Governor Andrew M. Cuomo nominated Justice Sheila Abdus-Salaam on Friday (April 5, 2013) to fill a vacancy on the state’s highest court (New York Court of Appeals), and if confirmed, she would become the first African-American woman to serve on it. She’s Barnard and Columbia Law School alumna.
